My brother is finally getting enlisted last sat. Before that sat, I was anxious not about how many clothings he will be bringing in, but whether the 1st aid medication is fully equipped for him. So I bought a new box of gastric pills, insect repellent which can even be used for stings from the jellyfishes, bees, spiders etc, then the spec bands and hooks. Well then I found out actually alot of things will be provided..
We woke up at 7am, making our way out from the house by 8am and drove to Pasir Ris for a breakfast together at the hong kong cafe. Then we waited for the feeder service arranged by the green men. The queue was really long. Together with the rest of the anxious parents, some brought their relatives and gfs as well, we waited patiently to aboard the buses that were already waiting in orderly manner. While waiting in the queue, I saw one family, passing around some mac burgers to the children and adults and they looked as if going for an excursion to the zoo.
The journey took about 20mins and we reached the ferry terminal and aboard the ferry immediately. The weather was so hot that it seems to burn and melt my skin layer by layer.
Upon reaching Tekong (yes, we "booked in" altogether), my first impression was it looked like a nice potential beach resort, you can feel the strong wind blowing and the smell of the sea. I was day dreaming of receiving some welcome drinks and watching my traditional dance when I was abruptly awaken by the green men directly us to another bus, then I realised, damn! I thought I was in bintan!
There was a tour around the places. I cant believed what I heard while we were all gathering in one of the bunk when a parent asked if there will be washing machines provided.
Then to the auditorium to listen to some speech and then come Q&A sessions with stupid parents asking if the ghost stories about tekong were true.
Afterwhich we witnessed the swearing of the oath before the green men-to-be line up outside the auditorium, side by side along the walk way while waiting to gather with their loved ones and enjoy some food tastings together. It was a pretty short get together before we got separated, with us visitors walking to the ferry terminal and the boys assembling at the parade square.
Sigh...and that spelt the end of the tour and us, "booking out" from the island after just a half day tour, leaving the green men to-be behind..
(the not very nervous but excited green men to be........)
(with his short tee tucked in....hehehehehehe...so funny)
