Lovely cool sunday morning.
Went to the market (yes, after say, more than half a yr?) and bought breakfast and coffee. While waiting for the auntie to prepare the wanton noodles, I went to queue for the morning kopi-o. In the back of my mind, I was reminding myself that I have to tell the Kopi Soh I want kopi-O for black coffee (not kopi, which is a general term we use in cafes).
The queue was quite a long one but going fast. Ppl were shouting everywhere. "Diao Hee! (hokkien, terms for tea), Kopi siew dai! (hokkien, kopi less sugar), Tat Kiu! (hokkien, term for milo)." And you know what is the term for milk tea? It's "teh ni"....opps..sorry, wrong wrong, its just "teh".
The Kopi Soh asked the front customer "Lee ai sim mi? (in hokkien)" Uncle replied "Kopi, bak". Then that got me thinking again. I also want the auntie to tie up my coffee. So I did my little rehearsal in my mind. Then my turn came. Kopi soh asked "Ni Yao Sheng Me? (in mandarin)". In my eagerness, I replied "Kopi-Or, bak also". Luckily she understood and got my coffee tied up the same way as how she did for the uncle.
So what is the hokkien term for Horlick if you wanna order?
Answer: Ho HO HO! (my sis said so!)
